BIG UPDATE: Ehsaas Rashan Program
The Ehsaas Program was initiated in 2019 by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, targeting the enhancement of living standards for the underprivileged sectors of society. Among the various initiatives falling under the broader umbrella of the Ahsaas program, the Rashan Program emerged as a significant effort. Introduced on October 1, 2021, by the Government of Pakistan under Imran Khan’s leadership, it aimed to alleviate hunger and poverty.
The primary focus of the Ehsaas Rashan Program was to provide ration cards or vouchers to low-income and eligible households. These cards or vouchers enabled beneficiaries to procure essential food items from specific utility stores at subsidized rates, thereby addressing food insecurity issues. Subsequently, on October 2, 2022, the Rashan Riayat program was launched in Lahore by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, signifying an extension or refinement of the initiative within the province.
